Thailand: Thai death certificate (registration of death) in Australia

  • Apply by post Possible
  • Checked 24 October 2026

When a Thai national dies in Australia, a relative reports the death to the Thai mission to obtain a Thai death certificate; it is free and is also the document needed to send a body to Thailand.

Where to apply in Australia

Royal Thai Embassy, 111 Empire Circuit, Yarralumla ACT 2600, which serves the whole of Australia for these services (online booking; hours Mon-Fri 8:30-16:30). Also offered at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney.

Sydney asks for a DFAT appointment link and in-person submission; the Sydney page does not mention post. Reporter must be a relative.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Thailand.
