Belgians registered with the embassy can apply for a biometric Belgian passport, valid 7 years for adults and 5 years for minors, available from birth. Applicants aged 6 and over must give biometrics in person, either in Canberra or during one of the embassy's visiting biometric missions to other cities.
Where to apply in Australia
Royal Belgian Embassy, Yarralumla (Canberra, ACT), which serves the whole of Australia. The honorary consulates (Sydney NSW, Brisbane QLD, Adelaide SA, Darwin NT) do not carry out these procedures.
The embassy runs visiting 'biometric missions' to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane (plus New Zealand and the Pacific); the 2026 schedule lists Perth on 1-3 Sep and Brisbane on 13-15 Oct 2026 and is flagged preliminary. Applicants send a complete file to Canberra before each mission's deadline.
Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Belgium.
How to apply
Read the passport information on the FPS Foreign Affairs site (the embassy page only gives an overview) | book an in-person slot in the embassy's e-Appointment system once the file is complete, or send the file to Canberra for a biometric mission | pay the consular fee in Australian dollars (card, cash at the counter, Australia Post money order or bank draft; no bank transfer or personal cheque)

Good to know
Embassy passport page gives only general information and points to FPS Foreign Affairs for requirements; Consular fees page shows 'last updated 30 September 2026'. Biometric missions page shows a tentative 2026 schedule without a date. Fees from the FPS Foreign Affairs central schedule 'Fees for consular services' (file dated 2026-06, changes effective 1 Jul-1 Sep 2026); the Australian embassy's own fee page (consular-fees) lists no amounts, says fees are paid in AUD at the posted rate, and the embassy fee PDF effective 1 Oct 2026 could not be located.
