A short-stay Schengen visa lets non-exempt foreign nationals stay up to three months in any six-month period. Australian citizens do not need one for tourism or business, but must meet normal entry conditions such as a passport valid at least three months after departure, proof of funds and a return ticket.
Where to apply in Australia
VFS Global Visa Application Centres in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth; the decision is taken by the Royal Belgian Embassy in Canberra. The embassy takes direct applications only from official or diplomatic passport holders and family members of EU citizens.
Short-stay applicants must attend a centre in person even if they must travel to reach one.

Good to know
Fees and processing times are not on the embassy page and the VFS page only showed 'Loading'. No date shown on the visa page. Fees from the FPS Foreign Affairs central schedule 'Fees for consular services' (file dated 2026-06, changes effective 1 Jul-1 Sep 2026); the Australian embassy's own fee page (consular-fees) lists no amounts, says fees are paid in AUD at the posted rate, and the embassy fee PDF effective 1 Oct 2026 could not be located.
