Maltese citizens in Australia apply for a biometric passport at a Maltese mission, where photo, fingerprints and signature are captured; the passport itself is issued by the Passport Office in Malta. First-time applicants and name changes need extra civil documents.
Where to apply in Australia
Malta High Commission in Canberra (ACT, covers Australia) and the Consulates-General in Sydney (NSW) and Melbourne (VIC). Honorary consulates exist in Brisbane, Cairns, Adelaide and Perth but the pages fetched do not say they provide these services.
Sydney page: minors 6-17 attend with a parent or guardian; children 0-6 are applied for by a parent without the child attending. The High Commission page is ambiguous on whether children must attend.
Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Malta.
