Pakistan: Renunciation of Pakistani citizenship in Australia

Pakistani citizens who have taken another nationality can give up Pakistani citizenship; the consulate forwards the file to Pakistan's Ministry of Interior. The step cannot be reversed.

Where to apply in Australia

High Commission in Canberra for residents of the ACT, WA, QLD and NT; Consulate-General in Melbourne for SA, TAS and VIC; Consulate-General in Sydney for NSW. Consular camps are held in other cities (for example Queensland).

Sydney and Melbourne fee AUD 20 (Melbourne page updated 17 May 2024); Canberra High Commission states a AUD 15 processing fee by postal money order, address PO Box 7130 Yarralumla ACT 2600.

How to apply

Complete Form X (JP-attested) with reasons | cancel the CNIC/NICOP on NADRA and keep the receipt | submit sets of documents by post, courier or in person | collect the certificate after surrendering old passports.

Good to know

Fees differ between posts and none is dated except Melbourne (17 May 2024). Sets can be mailed to Canberra; processing in Pakistan may take 3 to 6 months (Melbourne page).
