Korean men liable for military service who live abroad need a permit from the Military Manpower Administration to stay overseas. In 2026 those born in 2002 must apply (1 January 2026 to 15 January 2027), as must men whose existing permit is expiring.
Where to apply in Australia
Consulate-General in Sydney (NSW and NT), its Brisbane office (QLD), the Embassy in Canberra (ACT, SA, WA, TAS) and the Melbourne branch office (VIC). Mobile consular visits are held in places such as Darwin, Alice Springs and Port Macquarie.
