Sweden: Passport or national ID card for children in Australia

  • Appointment Required
  • Apply by post Not accepted
  • Checked 24 October 2026

Parents or guardians of a Swedish child under 18 apply for the child's passport or ID card at the embassy. The child must attend with at least one guardian and both guardians' consent must be documented.

Where to apply in Australia

Embassy of Sweden, Canberra (5 Turrana Street, Yarralumla ACT). Honorary consulates (Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney) do not take ordinary passport applications.

Honorary consulates only act as pick-up points for finished documents (nominate one when applying; extra charge plus postage) and, for Perth and Sydney, can issue emergency passports. All consulate visits are by appointment.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Sweden.

How to apply

Book the 'Passport application' slot online | fill in the citizenship verification form (signed by each guardian) and the guardian certificate and consent form (signed by each guardian, with an unrelated adult witness) | attend with the child and pay | collect at the embassy or nominated honorary consulate.
