Foreigners resident in Vietnam can apply for Vietnamese nationality via the embassy, with exemptions for applicants with Vietnamese family ties. The embassy requires three sets of documents.
Where to apply in Australia
Embassy of Viet Nam, Canberra (ACT), which serves ACT, VIC and TAS; Consulate-General in Sydney serves NSW, QLD and SA and Consulate-General in Perth serves WA and NT (districts as stated on the renunciation page).
Embassy counter hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:30-13:00, results collected same days 14:00-17:00. Booking via vietnamembassyinaustralia.setmore.com. Embassy pages give two street addresses (47 Culgoa Circuit and 6 Timbarra Crescent, O'Malley) and post address PO Box 98, Mawson ACT 2607; confirm before visiting. The pages describe only the Embassy's process; no Sydney or Perth service pages were fetched.
