  • Checked 24 October 2026

Check with the office. The official pages for this service leave out some details, or are older than a year. Use this page as a starting point and confirm fees and documents before you apply.

Birth, death and marriage certificates are obtained from the civil registry in Argentina, not from the consulate. For use in Australia they need an Argentine apostille, which can be requested online or, without a tax code, through the consulate for a fee.

Where to apply in Australia

Consulate-General of Argentina, Level 20, 44 Market St, Sydney NSW. It is the only Argentine consulate in Australia and covers all of Australia plus Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu; the Embassy in Canberra has no consular section.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Argentina.

How to apply

Request the certificate from the Argentine civil registry (in person, by an agent, or online where offered) | obtain the apostille online (TAD) or email the consulate for the procedure if you lack the required tax code level

Good to know
