Austrian passports are normally valid for ten years and include fingerprints from age 12. Every applicant, including babies, must attend in person, and each child needs their own passport. A new passport is needed after a name change.
Where to apply in Australia
Austrian Embassy in Canberra (Forrest, ACT) and the Austrian Consulate in Sydney; honorary consulates (Brisbane, Cairns, Adelaide, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth) certify documents but passport applications need fingerprints at the Embassy or a consulate.
Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Austria.
