People who have no valid Hungarian ID, passport, citizenship or naturalisation certificate or active registry record, but believe they hold Hungarian citizenship by descent, apply to have it verified and receive a citizenship certificate. Speaking Hungarian is not required.
Where to apply in Australia
Embassy of Hungary in Canberra (ACT), Consular Office of Hungary in Sydney (NSW, all of New South Wales, Level 11, 309 Kent Street) and Consular Office of Hungary in Melbourne (Fitzroy North, VIC; covers Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania). Honorary consuls do not handle this procedure on their own; it is lodged at the consular offices.
