Indian citizens in Australia whose passport has been lost, stolen or damaged apply for a replacement passport. This category needs extra paperwork and verification, so it takes noticeably longer than an ordinary re-issue.

Where to apply in Australia

Lodged at the Indian Consular Application Centre (ICAC, run by VFS Global) for the applicant's state: Canberra (ACT), Sydney (NSW), Adelaide (SA), Melbourne (VIC and TAS), Brisbane (QLD), Perth (WA and NT).
