South Korea: Passport for children under 18 in Australia

  • Apply by post Not accepted
  • Checked 25 October 2026

Passports for Korean nationals under 18 are applied for by a parent with parental authority. Children born in Australia to a Korean parent and a parent who is an Australian citizen or permanent resident are dual nationals from birth and can hold a Korean passport.

Where to apply in Australia

Consulate-General in Sydney (NSW and NT), its Brisbane office (QLD), the Embassy in Canberra (ACT, SA, WA, TAS) and the Melbourne branch office (VIC). Mobile consular visits are held in places such as Darwin, Alice Springs and Port Macquarie.

Details below are from the Sydney Consulate-General's pages; the Embassy, Melbourne and Brisbane offices follow the same national rules but publish their own contacts.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of South Korea.

How to apply

A parent with parental authority attends in person and fills in the form by hand; the child need not attend if a suitable photo is supplied. No postal or agent applications.
