Philippines: Report of Birth in Australia

  • Appointment Required
  • Apply by post Possible
  • Checked 24 October 2026

Check with the office. The official pages for this service leave out some details, or are older than a year. Use this page as a starting point and confirm fees and documents before you apply.

A child born in Australia to at least one Filipino parent must be reported to the Philippine mission so the birth is recorded in the Philippine civil registry. Late reporting needs extra affidavits.

Where to apply in Australia

Civil Registry for ACT, QLD, WA, NT at the Embassy; NSW to the Sydney Consulate-General; VIC, SA and TAS to the Melbourne Consulate-General.

The Melbourne email link on the Embassy page points to the Sydney address, so confirm the correct Melbourne contact.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of the Philippines.

How to apply

Prepare four notarised ROB forms and supporting documents | file in person (appointment on +61 2 6273 2535 ext. 233; required if the child will also apply for a passport) or send by post with payment and a prepaid express return envelope

Documents you need

Fees and processing time

Processing time: No fixed Embassy time; PSA birth certificate may be available 6 months to 1 year after registration.

Good to know

Appointment is needed only for in-person filing; mail filing is accepted. Page shows no update date. Fee equals the 2016 schedule. Both the Embassy and Melbourne Consulate General fee pages (read 2026-10-24) still state the schedule is as of 9 March 2016, so fees may have changed.
