Philippines: Notarial services (acknowledgement, jurat, power of attorney) in Australia

  • Apply by post Not accepted
  • Checked 24 October 2026

The Embassy notarises private documents such as affidavits and special powers of attorney that the signatory signs in front of a consular officer, for use in the Philippines. Australian public documents are not legalised here; they take a DFAT apostille instead.

Where to apply in Australia

Philippine Embassy, Canberra (notarials desk, ext. 231). Sydney and Melbourne Consulates-General offer notarials for their areas but their pages were not fetched.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of the Philippines.

How to apply

Attend in person with the unsigned document and ID | sign before the consular officer | pay by cash, card or postal money order | expedited release available for an extra fee

Documents you need

Fees and processing time

Processing time: 3 business days regular; 1 business day expedited.

Good to know

Authentication page and schedule agree on AUD 45 and AUD 18 (schedule dated 9 March 2016). Documents issued by Australian authorities go to DFAT for an apostille (DFAT fees not on the page). Both the Embassy and Melbourne Consulate General fee pages (read 2026-10-24) still state the schedule is as of 9 March 2016, so fees may have changed.
