Czech Republic: Registration of birth, marriage or divorce abroad and duplicate certificates in Australia

  • Checked 24 October 2026

Check with the office. The official pages for this service leave out some details, or are older than a year. Use this page as a starting point and confirm fees and documents before you apply.

Czech citizens can register in the Czech system a birth, marriage or divorce that took place in Australia, and can ask for duplicate Czech birth, marriage or death certificates. Registered partnerships abroad are registered through the Special Registry Office in Brno.

Where to apply in Australia

Embassy in Canberra (ACT residents) and Consulate General in Sydney (NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, WA and NT per DFAT listing); honorary consulates in Australia are named by the embassy only as collection points for passports, not for other services.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of the Czech Republic.

How to apply

Contact the embassy or consulate; step-by-step requirements are on subpages that could not be read

Fees and processing time

Good to know

Document lists not published on the pages read. Fee amounts come from the Canberra embassy's consular fee PDF headed October 2026 (file dated 9 Oct 2026, fees updated monthly and converted from CZK); the page text had an obvious typo in the exchange-rate line.
