Check with the office. The official pages for this service leave out some details, or are older than a year. Use this page as a starting point and confirm fees and documents before you apply.
The embassy certifies that a copy matches an original and verifies English-Czech or Czech-English translations. An English-language clause can be requested when the document will not be used in the Czech Republic.
Where to apply in Australia
Embassy in Canberra (confirmed); Consulate General in Sydney publishes the same fee items.
Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of the Czech Republic.
How to apply
Email the embassy to book | bring original and copy (or the translation) | pay in cash AUD
Documents you need
- Original document and the copy to be certified
- For translations, a translation between English and Czech (the embassy lists accredited translators)
- Not certifiable: copies of IDs, passports, bank passbooks, cheques, lottery or betting slips and drawings
Fees and processing time
- Official fee: verification of photocopy CZK 600 (AUD 40) per page; via Brno special registry CZK 300 (AUD 20)
- Official fee: verification of translation CZK 600 (AUD 40); via Brno CZK 300 (AUD 20)
- Official fee: translation by the embassy into Czech CZK 1,200 (AUD 80) per page, into English CZK 1,300 (AUD 87)
Good to know
The legalisation page states CZK 300 plus CZK 150 for Brno registration, which conflicts with the October 2026 fee PDF; the PDF is newer. Fee amounts come from the Canberra embassy's consular fee PDF headed October 2026 (file dated 9 Oct 2026, fees updated monthly and converted from CZK); the page text had an obvious typo in the exchange-rate line.
