Ecuador: Support for repatriation of remains of Ecuadorians in Australia

  • Appointment Not needed
  • Checked 24 October 2026

Check with the office. The official pages for this service leave out some details, or are older than a year. Use this page as a starting point and confirm fees and documents before you apply.

Families of Ecuadorians who died abroad and cannot pay for repatriation can request state support to bring the body or remains to Ecuador, after an assessment of economic and social vulnerability.

Where to apply in Australia

Embassy of Ecuador in Canberra (Yarralumla, ACT) and honorary consulates in Adelaide/Rostrevor (South Australia) and Victoria. The ministry pages describe the service for Ecuadorian consulates abroad in general; which Australian post performs each service was not published on pages that could be read (the embassy site blocks automated reading), so contact the embassy first.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Ecuador.

How to apply

Send a written request to the nearest consulate (by email or in person) | optionally call for guidance first | staff assess the case and assist | central contact is the ministry's protection directorate
