An Ecuadorian living abroad can register a de facto union made before a foreign notary or authority at an Ecuadorian consulate so it takes effect in Ecuador. Both partners must be adults.
Where to apply in Australia
Embassy of Ecuador in Canberra (Yarralumla, ACT) and honorary consulates in Adelaide/Rostrevor (South Australia) and Victoria. The ministry pages describe the service for Ecuadorian consulates abroad in general; which Australian post performs each service was not published on pages that could be read (the embassy site blocks automated reading), so contact the embassy first.
Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Ecuador.
