Czech citizens living in Australia apply in person for a new biometric passport, with fingerprints taken from age 12 and the photo taken on site by a consular officer. Children under 15 are applied for by a parent or guardian.
Where to apply in Australia
Embassy in Canberra (ACT residents) and Consulate General in Sydney (NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, WA and NT per DFAT listing); honorary consulates in Australia are named by the embassy only as collection points for passports, not for other services.
Canberra serves ACT residents only and takes bookings by email. Sydney runs 'Passport Days' mobile stations (e.g. Adelaide on 9 Nov 2026) on expression of interest via an online form, with collection at an honorary consulate or in Sydney.
Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of the Czech Republic.
How to apply
Email the embassy or consulate to book, giving full name, phone and whether you hold a valid Czech passport or ID | attend in person with the documents matching your situation | pay in cash at lodgement | collect in person from the mission that took the application, an honorary consulate or a Czech municipal office, returning the old passport
Documents you need

- For children born abroad after 2014, a citizenship certificate or birth certificate from the Special Registry Office in Brno
- Parent/guardian consent and attendance for minors (applicant over 15 collects in person)
- Old passport returned on collection
- No photo needed beforehand
Fees and processing time
- Official fee: adult 10-year passport CZK 2,400 (AUD 160)
- Official fee: child up to 15 CZK 400 (AUD 27)
- Other charges: prepaid Express Post satchel for collection at an honorary consulate, possible postage fee for the signed receipt
Good to know
Fee amounts come from the Canberra embassy's consular fee PDF headed October 2026 (file dated 9 Oct 2026, fees updated monthly and converted from CZK); the page text had an obvious typo in the exchange-rate line. No processing time published on the pages read.
