  • Checked 24 October 2026

A Polish citizen, or a person with a legal interest, can have an Australian birth certificate registered in a Polish civil registry via the consulate. This is usually needed before a child can get a PESEL number or Polish passport.

Where to apply in Australia

Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Sydney (10 Trelawney Street, Woollahra NSW) covers Australia except the ACT; the Embassy in Canberra covers the ACT. Honorary consuls do not issue passports.

Contact details for every office are on the page of the embassy and consulates of Poland.

How to apply

Book an appointment on the e-Konsulat system (e-konsulat.gov.pl) | submit the form and documents in person or by post to the competent post | the consul forwards the file to the chosen Polish registry office | collect the Polish certificate at the consulate or by post

Applications are handled through e-Konsulat (Polish MFA online booking system), https://www.e-konsulat.gov.pl/.
